Aleith|DM: The Elite Stars start to laugh as the first flies right past them…until it explodes behind them, engulfing them. [KO!]
Gerald: "I’m glad I finally found a practical use for these things!"
Aleith|DM: The airship is….still flying. [2/4 Hull Integrity]
Aleith|DM: You don't have much time to rest, as the first reinforcements begin arriving via teleportation, flight, or cargo thopters, starting a minute later.
Aleith|DM: But between Gerald and Ernst's rifles, Phyllis' spells, and Zane's changing arsenal, plus Garrett and Chandrasekhar fneding off any that manage to make it aboard, you manage to fight them off over the next 10 minutes without more than a breather. [-2 healing surges each]
Gerald‘ rolls his shoulders around while picking off the last few flyers. "I think I got it from here, you can go figure out how to fly this thing Ernst."
Garrett` strides about looking gallant, and every now and then rushes over to make a pincushion out of any horned ne’er-do-well that thinks they're gonna bust their ballast.
Phyllis charms and confounds the larger groups, turning them against each other.
Aleith|DM: There are certainly quite a number of legionnaires returning. As well as large golden constructs that are shaped like the Horned Devils.
Garrett: "Y'all really don't give up. Have a break of the spirit." He nods to a large construct that approaches, and tugs at the soul of the Marshal. [Unfinished Business]
Zane and his hounds are a bloody, unstoppable wave of pain rolling around the decks and through windows to savage the attackers from seemingly impossible directions.
Ernst nods before heading off.
Aleith|DM: Four ghostly weapons tear into the contruct-A scythe, two longswords, and a spear.
Garrett: "The marshal lies slain, you teardrops from hell! Dash yourselves against our oblivion, for you live for little else!" He pitches his dagger into the construct for good measure.
Garrett: "This thing has cannons, right?-" he asks and walks, heading belowdecks. After a few seconds, the call comes back. "YEP, IT'S CANNONS."
Aleith|DM: Five light arcane fusils and four full fusils to each broadside, a lower deck with six heavy fusils per side, and an undercastle (not shown) with six light fusils that can aim downward. Each fusil fires an eldritch blast of black, crackling magical fire.
Garrett‘ flits about with his natural agility and a bit of help from the zephyr boots, attempting to figure out how to prime and fire the cannon. He’s gonna take potshots at groups of devils!
Aleith|DM: Those poor legionnaires….
[OOC] Garrett: they're devils, it's not like they got feelings
Garrett‘ is going to also glance about to see if he sees the Coaltongue or Rock’s other skiff sneaking about.
Aleith|DM: Eventually, the reinforcements are all stopped, and you can finally catch your breath.
Aleith|DM: The Coaltongue seems to still be holding back for now.
Aleith|DM: And Phyllis manages to get the ship to stop that infernal chanting.
Garrett: "Good work, everyone," he calls as he heads topside.
Zane kneels down and pets his wolves, murmuring softly to them. They slowly evanesce into tendrils of smoke that seem to waft up the sleeves of his coat.
Gerald: "What's with the weird dogs?"
Zane: "They are not dogs, Gerald. They are wolves."
Chandrasekhar: "What are their names?" Asking the important questions.
Gerald: "Same thing man."
Zane smiles. "They haven't told me yet."
Chandrasekhar nods. "All things in time, my dear friend."
Garrett: "If that's all that's going to come at us… for now," he says, eyes shifting over the horizon, "-then we might be getting on to the palace."
Phyllis: "We have some means of communicating that we commandeered a vessel, right?"
Gerald: "You're the illusionist."
Garrett: "I'd hope the raining of charred, shot, sliced, burnt, zapped, poisoned, chunky devil corpses would have done it, but you do have a point."
Phyllis casts [Battlefield Elocution] and tags Garrett with it. "Magical megaphone for you, if you want to do the talking."
Phyllis: (10 minutes, 25 gp to cast)
Garrett‘ nods, and once the ritual is complete:
Garrett: "Attention citizens and rulers of Clover- this is King Garrett Woodson, monarch of Risur."
Garrett: "My constables and I have commendeered the flying golden juggernaut."
Garrett: "We are going to decend now because we desperately need to catch up over muffins and coffee- what with the universe upending itself."
Garrett: "Also for triage, evacuation, general health checkup… (Phyllis how long does this spell last, again?)"
Phyllis: "(An hour.)"
Garrett: "(Ah, fuck-) So don’t shoot the ship down or blow it up just yet unless you really want a golden shower."
Garrett: "I look forward to seeing you all!"
Phyllis: "…I can prepare it ten minutes before it wears off, if you'd like?"
Phyllis: "And you can speak at a normal level at any time, if you're concerned about letting something slip at large."
Garrett‘ waves off the suggestion and mimes driving the ship down- "…ah, thank you," to which he does switch to a normal level once he realizes he can.
Garrett: "Last time we used it I was really just focused on yelling and the everything so I didn’t ask questions, obviously."
Aleith|DM: You take the ship down and meet the Coaltongue near Thistle Palace. Rock warns you that his scouts found that there are still some devils left in the Palace…
Aleith|DM: He thinks the ship could use some work, but overall it looks pretty serviceable.
Garrett: "Of course there were going to be devils, it's just… the devils we know and have national pacts with, and then the devils we don't."
Zane: "Heh heh."
Chandrasekhar laughs.
Garrett` unneccessarily unsheathes, spins once, and resheathes his daggers in one smooth motion before heading down the cobblestoned street, cracked with battle and favorable weeds.
