Toe 06

[F2003] [Goblin Nest] So when we last left off you'd just taken out a small group of goblins that had been patrolling the pathway through the little maze/dwelling thing they've set up here. If I recall correctly, we stopped in the section right before the right most 'likely ambush point' on the map.
[OOC] Shuu: We had just dealt with some goblins right before the ambush point, yes. And were on our way east and then north, planning on tagging the robgoblin on the way
Sohl cleans off his axe. "These walls are surprisingly soundproof."
PseudoGM: And heading east is still the plan then?
Yin listens down the corridor. "You think so Sohl? What's the likelihood that we've lost our advatage of surprise with the scuffle?"
Harino: "Let's not jinx ourselves on that, please?"
Sohl: "Hah! Yeah, I did have to go and say somethin', didn't I?"
Shuu: "They don't seem sufficiently organized" he looks at the map, then looks eastwards, in as much as there are cardinal directions inside the tower "Whether they heard or not i'm not sure they'd be ready"
Sohl: "That's why we're gonna get the hop on the hobgoblin, for sure!"
Yin: "Only one way to find out." Yin moves forward in order to continue ahead of the rst of the group
Sohl gestures for someone else to lead the way, though.
Shuu follows after eastwards, he's proven to be enough of a target for the goblins might as well go in front
Wrench sniffs the air for a few moments, then follows after.
[OOC] Yin: Should I make a new stealth roll?
PseudoGM: Scouting ahead a bit, Yin can see a pair of lightly armed gobling hiding behind some nearby crates just around the corner, with a gobling fiddling with a large gatling gun a god distance behind them. They're actualy got a pretty good spot for catching people exploring off guard… but you're a little better at this than they are so they won't be catching you off guard at all.
Yin makes her way back to the group and informs them of the heavy arms up ahead. No sign of the hobgoblin in the room though
Yin: "Same plan as before? Jump them before they can respond in kind?"
PseudoGM: {Usually these thing would start battle by screwing up your formating and having the ambushers with fully charged guages… but that's not happening against Yin's scouting]
Sohl: "(We are an ambushin' team!)"
Shuu crosses his arms "Let's try to approach from cover so we can get in engagement range before that gatling has time to spin up"
Shuu: "They're dangerous, but ever more so when they've got range for suppression"
Shuu: "Otherwise, yes"
PseudoGM: The two goblins up front seem completely caught off guard and flabbergasted when Shuu, Harino and Sohl advance upon them before they've even got their daggers out, and let out a yelp in surprise to warn the gunman behind them.

Shuu did in fact act before that, he backflips into the nothingness, appearing above the goblins. He the remaining electricity of Yin's assault arcs and gathers on the halo in his back as it grows brighter "A decisive strike…" he falls to the ground with the force of a meteor, causing a gigantic detonation exploding shrapnel on all the enemies [Explosive Entry - C-Air]

Wrench dashes into point-blank, jams her gun up against the goblin, tackles him into the wall, and fires a blaze of shots before biting into him and tossing him down to the floor.

Wrench shuffles a few parts around inside her gun, discarding a few more as she does so. Good as new.
PseudoGM: Anyway. … Actually it's kind of impressive that between Harino and Wrench you didn't rip a hole right through that bit of wall, but the dent IS pretty big now.

Harino sheathes one of her katanas, looking a bit sheepish. "…Whoops." [+12 HP from Indomitable]
Shuu stares at the damaged wall "At least they can build"
Yin looks around excitedly, relishing the idea of another fight and looking a bit more bloodthirsty than normal. "The map says this big hobgoblin is just ahead, right?"

PseudoGM: Look like the passage leading north is clear, and you can see a door or two branching off to the right at intervels.
Sohl: "Yeah, neither of 'em were the hobgoblin."
Harino: "No fancy watch on them, at least. And just from the name it's probably more imposing than most goblins."
Wrench skulks forth, taking the second door on the right.
Shuu: "Want to check this out before going for Harino's target?
Sohl: "Sure, see if we can't find some kinda upgrade before tacklin' the big one."
PseudoGM: Second door on the right? Hmm… Looks like there's a lot of weapons stored in here. Piles and piles of them. Most of them are crap and rusted over or chipped to hell and back…
PseudoGM rolled 1d4 and got 4 ( Total: 4 )
PseudoGM: But there's one rifle in there that looks like it's still usable. Actually it looks like it's a little more that usable. [x1 Unidentified Rifle]
PseudoGM: Hard to tell what exactly it does without sinking some time into it, but you're pretty sure its enchanted.
Sohl: "Huuuuuuuuuuuh."
Sohl: "This'n's a special find!"
Wrench discards that lock she was carrying around and stuffs the rifle in her pack for now.
Yin looks around the room with interest, examining other piles of junk and other clutter "How in all the Tower did they manage to scrounge all of this?"
Sohl: "When we're on solid ground again, I bet I could poke at the magics a bit."
Harino: "I wonder if this used to also be a dumping ground for the town before the goblins moved in?"
Shuu: "Given the goblins appear to be stealing from travellers"
Shuu: "I imagine this is their… Hoard"
Shuu: If there is such a thing "
Wrench: "Harino. We're taking on your target next. Y'ready?"
Harino nods her head, a grin on her face and tail wagging at the prospect of the fight. "Of course!"
Sohl hefts his axe. "We've got your back all the way!"
Wrench scurries, low to the ground, pressing up against the doorway into the hobgoblin's demesne. She waits for Harino's charge, gun ready.
PseudoGM: Alright. Heading back to the door just south of the 'weapon rack'. The door opens easily enough, and inside you see a bunch fo crates randomly strewn across the floor. Near the back there's a table set up, and five goblins seated on crates surrounding it. Looks like they're playing with some worn out cards, with a pile of different colors rocks in the center of it. One of them's a couple feet taller than the others, and more of a dark orange than green.
PseudoGM: They all turn towards the door when Harino kicks it open, then back at one another, before the smaller ones begin to scream and throw their cards in the air as they scramble for their weapons, before jumping out of their seats,
PseudoGM: The larger, orangey one lets out a sigh, setting its card on the table before grabbing a large hammer next to it. "Well thanks a lot asshole, ya ruined the game!!"
Shuu lets Harino do the intimidation here, it's her target after all
Yin takes this chance at the start of the fight to unseal Land Ripper! ((Limiter))
PseudoGM: The goblin wizard seems to be the first to regain its barings, and is actually the first one to act in [Round One]!
PseudoGM: It then sets Harino on fire with [Flames]!

PseudoGM: One of the goblins in the back pulls out a wooden masked before placing it over its face. A moment later it nods, then gestures towards Striker A, who begins to glow. [Strengthen] Long K-Power!
PseudoGM: Striker A then rushes forward, making an [Attack - Fire Combo] on Harino!

Harino falters as her charge is cut-off, putting out the flames while taking a read on the Hobgoblin. [Overdrive Read, Defend]
Harino also takes the Quicken 1 from Defend.
PseudoGM: Looks like it charges up pretty slow… and when it does, it'll just do whatever, but with a massive critical rate attached to it.
PseudoGM: The Hobgoblin looks around, then laughs. It's [Excitable - Gains +4 Drive per round, rather than +2], then points a finger at Shuu. "You first!" Before rushing forward and [Smash - Rush Combo]ing its hammer into his chest.

Shuu waits until the hammer's on the way, draws his right fist back and punches right at it, knocking the hammer back [2 LP]

Shuu is really needing some assistance here, so he brings his axe above his head and brings it back down, tearing a hole in space, and then stepping trough and settling on a defensive stance [Defend]

Sohl then raises his hands over his head and conjures up a healing Breeze for Shuu and Harino! [Breeze]

Shuu spreads open both arms as he begins to float up "Good time to use as any" he picks up a wrought clover charm with his left hand and focuses on it for a moment, then puts both hands before him as a sphere of darkness appears between his hands. He charges energy on it for a while before looking down "Vanish" and flicks the sphere down "Degenerator Cannon!" the sphere stops on the
Shuu ground and starts drawing in all enemies with more and more force until it has brought them all to crash against eachother. The sphere continues to draw and draw crushing them with gravity, he pulls out his axe as he starts to fall, focusing his eyes on the Shaman "I've got you now!" he comes crashing down with immense force [Q - Wrought Clover] [OD: Degenerator Cannon] [Warp Strike]

PseudoGM: The Hobgoblin rolls its shoulder around a few times, before picking its hammer back up and taking a [Swing - Rush Combo] at Sohl, and sending him flying into Shuu.

The axe sails in the air in an arc until it's above the final enemy, as it falls Shuu appears from behind the goblin, drawing his sword that he almost never touches and going for a slash, striking at the same time the axe falls on it [Warp Strike]

Shuu takes a deep breath, putting both of his weapons back in place, he goes over to Sohl, sitting beside him "How're you doing"
PseudoGM: Not that pocket, not that pocket… oh, there it is! Looked like it somehoe avoid getting banged up any, too. [x1 Quest Watch]
Sohl: "Heh… I'm pretty winded, yeah?"
Sohl has not sat up for the record.
Sohl: "How's the area?"
Yin seeing that there are no more enemies, the dark haze that makes up its form appears to fold into itself, making its outline indistinct and less humanoid. It seems to be wrestling with an internal force of elemental magic that pushes outward at the edges of the mist before dissipating and revealing the normal form of Yin, doubled over for a moment as though in pain. Once it all seems
Yin to disolve she straightens again and moves quickly to assist her allies. "Sohl, you ok?!"
Shuu: "No more goblins around here, thankfully"
Sohl: "I'll be alright, just give me a sec here."
Shuu: "Think you can make your way to the sanctuary? There should be one near the center of the area but…
Shuu: "Okay"
Harino pockets the watch, nodding her head as she stand back up. "The sanctuary's probably our best bet."
PseudoGM: If someone tosses the room… it looks like most of the crates are full of more scrap metal and worn out gears, more random building materials they used to make walls and that incredibly bad alarm system. Near the table Shuu knocked over though, there's a cred stick near a pile of rocks with [120C /5 -> 25C Each] on it.
PseudoGM: by which i meant 125 total, so the math works out.
Yin: "what about the trap listed on the map? Should we attempt that or head back around through the gates and the other ambush point? I don't know if I have the magic for another big fight"
Sohl rolls to a sitting position, and then 'hups' up to his feet, steadying himself next to a table.
Wrench: "I'll handle the trap."
Sohl: "Trap'll be easier to deal with."
Sohl: "Even if I got myself up to fightin' strength using the last of my magic, I'd have nothing left for a fight."
Shuu: "If it's the mechanical type of trap it's prefferable to a fight"
Wrench slinks ahead of the party, gun slung over her back.
Yin nods. "best to head there if we have what we needed then I'd say"
Shuu waits besides Sohl, he'll help him move as needed "C'mon, let's get going"
PseudoGM: Due north the coast is clear. It looks like there's a tunnel going north, and if you squint you can see a few figures moving around up there, but Yin's more than capable of sneaking you all past without them noticing.
PseudoGM: At the far end of the west path, you can see a large turrent mounted into the ground, and set up to have a swivvel radius to hit fully east or south. There's a sign above it nailed to the wall which says "HOP U REMEMBER 2DAY COLOR, HAR HAR HAR!!!"
PseudoGM: And the entire ground is littered with large bricks rather than dirt, each one one of five different colors.
Shuu looks at the bricks, looks up at the turret
PseudoGM: There's all spread out erratically, but you could, in theory, hop through the passage while only landing on a single color.
Wrench leaps up, sinks her claws into the ceiling, and skitters over to the turret, dropping down onto the top of it. Then she dismantles it.
[OOC] Wrench: Agility, yeah?
Yin: "Anyone notice any notes about color on the way he-? Oh, well that's rather handy"
Shuu considers for a while, and looks as Wrench takes initiative "You really need to stop to think for a moment one of those days, Wrench"
PseudoGM: Strength for climbing, agility if you wanna take a running jump and land on the turrent, probably.
Wrench rolled 3d6 and got 6, 2, 1 ( Total: 9 ) for Strength it is

Sohl: "Heheheh… you can't stop the bold."
Wrench looks up at Shuu, a bundle of wires in her mouth, before biting through them. "Onna these days." she says.
PseudoGM: You get about halfway across the floor when part of the ceiling you grab onto comes loose and drops - you have enough time to catch yourself but the scrap metal hit the ground hard. … … … And nothing happens.
PseudoGM: Looks like today was green day…?
Wrench: …Guess so.
PseudoGM: Once you get over to the turrent, it's brain dead simple to disable, knowing what you know about big guns. [All Clear]
Wrench looks at her gun, looks at the turret, and sits atop it, swapping out a few choice parts until she's just sitting on a pile of junk.
Wrench: "We're good."
Sohl ambles across the trapway.
Shuu looks at the floor, looks at the gun, and follows Sohl
Yin follows, seeing the others not riddled with holes
PseudoGM: Very satisfying to deliberately step on every color and not get shot, isn't it?
PseudoGM: A little ways south from there there's another door, this one more reinforced that the last. Opens easily enough though.
Harino shakes her head and walks through, nimbly bounding from green tile to green despite the lack of any need to any more.
Shuu looks southwards, the pathway should be around there
Wrench ducks low as she heads through the doorway. Though, she probably heads in last.
Yin goes first, stealthing into the sactuary to make sure there are no other surprises waiting. Just in case
PseudoGM: Near the entrance on the over side is a small, wooden offering box, next to a basket of shrine incense. Along the rest of the room are oddly rainbow colored stone pillars, eight total which nearly reach the ceiling and form a circle, with a thin layer of multi-colored light extending from each pillar to form a sort of light tarp. Along the ground, dozens of magic circles with a large number of different gylphs are etched intothe ground, all glowing a dull blueish white.

Shuu: "All parts are in place, at least"

Sohl: "You've got the right idea of it." He places an offering inside the box.

Yin: "would it…? Are places like these related to your 'core' mission?" Yin asks as she gestures around the light filled chamber
Shuu: "Those sanctuaries are like… Magical cable boxes, more or less"
Shuu: "Where the more magical portion of the tower's powers flow, so if they're damaged anything past it would lack that energy"
Shuu: "I don't think anyone in their right minds would dare do that, but those days…"
Yin: "Yeah, seems like an easy way to shoot one's self in the foot then"
Sohl: "Heh. You seem to have updated your knowledge a bit."
Shuu: "Actually"
Shuu: "You explained this last time we ran into ne of those"
Sohl: "That's right, just why it felt weird you relaying it back just now."
Harino stretches once they're safely inside, chuckling at their byplay.
Sohl: "There's differences, but…"
Yin finds a comfortable spot near a column and sort of collapses down onto it "Oh right the park down stairs. Wasn't sure if this was another of those spots or something entirely different in function"
Sohl: "Right now I just feel like sittin' a spell."
Sohl: "Probably ask again when we're back in a town. It'll make for a good… eh, what's the phrase…"
Sohl: "Rest, relaxation, and debriefing!"
Shuu helps Sohl find a good place to sit "You do sit down"
Shuu: "They did they damned best to take you down there and you gave them a hell of a fight"
Harino makes an offering before lighting some incence, clapping her hands twice before bowing her head in a brief prayer before going to set up her usual pack headrest and breaking out a tin of tuna rations. [-20C for santuary, -3C for recharging charms]

[OOC] Shuu: I'll… Handle learning those rules after session and calculate
Yin gets up and makes her own offering at the shrine before laying back down in her claimed spot "I think I'll just eat after a nap…" (-20 credits)
Sohl finds a spot and just uses his bedroll as a pillow. He's fast asleep right after his head makes touchdown.
Shuu waits until Sohl's getting some rest, and goes over to the offering box. He's not 100% a fan of them, but he still gives up some resources for ensuring a good rest and his charm working. After he's done he stands up, and sits down besides Sohl "Well"
Shuu: "Let's rest up, but stay alert in case any goblins wander in"
PseudoGM: Despite not having any access to proper bedding… it's one of the best sleeps you had in years, and by the time everyone wakes up, you're all feeling refreshed and raring to go. (Sohl's even got a little time to put a bit more effort into figuring out what the rifle does, if he's so inclined!)

PseudoGM: It takes a bit to remember where you've seen the enchantment before, but after messing around for a bit it comes to you: This is the basic but useful Power enchantment, which has 5 Charges, each of which adds +2 damage to any attack made with it.
