OUT OF THE IMPOSSIBLE AND INTO THE VOID, FILLED WITH STARS WITHOUT NUMBER
Peter's going to try running some Stars Without Number!
We'll be using sector Rah Calaiah, map available below.
LONG AGO, THE GODDESS CREATED THE UNIVERSE AND ALL LIFE WITHIN IT
She hid the secrets of enlightenment and joy within the genetic code of all living things. Her heirs, the DRAGONS, took it as their divine charge to build a great civilization that spanned the entire galaxy.
They built a tremendous psychic network, enabling the construction of powerful warp-gates, bridging the sectors.
They experimented with the secret code of life, attempting to create holy and divine beasts, ever seeking to approach the image of the Creator.
They ruled over HUMANITY. To stand between them and the humans, they created PSYCHICS by injecting humanity with draconic bacteria, raising them as a ruling caste.
To wage war against rebels, they created DRAKOIDS from the remnants of failed dragons, loyal brutes and honor guards.
The record of their histories span millennia, and all before is forgotten.
200 YEARS AGO, A TREMENDOUS FAULT DESTROYED THE NETWORK
It is called "The Scream". Sectors have been isolated. No help is coming. The Empire is broken, ripped apart to a thousand cells and inheritors, each calling themselves the true honorers of the Imperial will.
Because of this, rebellion has become possible. Isolated planets have begun to develop in their own way, and free traffic has begun to ply the starlanes.
THERE ARE STARS WITHOUT NUMBER, AND WONDERS WITHOUT COMPARE, FOR THOSE THAT SEEK THEIR FORTUNE.
Create SWN characters. All as core - 3d6 straight, swap one attribute for a 14.
We'll pick a planet to start play on. Some fun options include…
Lamapenza, in the Blue Star System - Cityships prowling the waves of an eternal storm.
Lon, in the Lon System - A forgotten planet that knows nothing of the larger world -if you want to start at at low tech level!
Devasha Kiru, in the Devasha System - Megacorp action in flying cities.
Peleus, in the Peleus System - If you wanna just straight up start right in revolutionary war.
Make a character by going through ordinary character creation, from the rulebook. Attribute generation is 3d6 straight, in order, replace one attribute with a 14.
Attach your character with a loose concept and link them below - once we have a few characters and interested people, we'll talk about how they might fit into a starting scenario.
Maybe make a backup, too.

Non-Lethal Options
Gravagar asked me about NONLETHAL WEAPONRY. I think in this sector, it'll work like this:
I think out of the box nonlethal weaponry is just a little bit worse (here's the designer talking about it https://www.reddit.com/r/SWN/comments/8b12yk/stun_weapons_in_revised_edition/ ) - that said, I think "Lesslethal Field Tuning - this weapon has a stun setting but otherwise acts at full effectiveness. Costs 1000 CR." is available as a Fix-1 weapon mod for non-heavy energy weapons.
An ordinary Stun Pistol is as per a laser pistol, but can't effectively penetrate worn/natural AC16 or higher: it depends on broad-range wave emission, so it's not going to hit weak spots.
An Electric Pistol is, essentially, a taser. Statted as per a Thermal Pistol (but as it fires a kinetic projectile to hook into the target and not an energy one, it doesn't have the +1 or the dust weakness), it does 2d6 less-lethal damage. It's not perfectly safe, though - anyone dropped to 0 HP by it will have to make a Physical save or actually need medical attention within the next few hours. But it's fine for taking out larger beasts and robots, are some advantages.
Anything better than that isn't stock tech.
