[2300CE] [???]
PseudoGM: It's been a few hours since you engaged the Mystic in the past, only to end up Who-Knows-Where. The scenary has been baren for all of these hours without much in sight save for the an odd glowing tower far, far into the distance that doesn't seem to get any closer no matter how long you walk.
PseudoGM: Hardly any plant life, even less animal life. Ocassionally you'll come across tire or tread marks in the ground giving off the impression that SOME people still live around here, some where, but you haven't seen much in the way of any other sentient being by the time the sun begins to set.
Lyra looks over at a tower in the horizon "Quite the wasteland…"
Lyra looks at the sky "Unfamiliar stars, too…"
Alder sighs deeply, trudging forward in a slump. "And the ground is so much rougher on these shoes of mine…"
PseudoGM: It's as the sun finally sets that you do notice that first sigh, however - lights in the near distance. Some kind of building? A dome, maybe? It's not well lit from the outside, but it's *something*.
Lyra looks at the distant dome "You complain about your shoes" she says to Alder without facing him "Something there"
Alder: "In a dead, desolate wasteland, my shoes are all what keep my feet protected! They're very important." He looks up towards the horizon.
Alder: "Fingers crossed that they're not naturally occuring lights," he half-chuckles, with half a grin. The 'whole' is basically a tragicomedy mask.
Chrysanthemum: "Hmph. No part of this is okay."
PseudoGM: This one, mercifully, DOES appear to be getting closer as you walk to it. And as the gets darker, it's unmistakably artificial lighting. Natural light it's *quite* that color.
PseudoGM: isn't^
Lyra: "Some city, I hope"
Alder: "Hopefully they still take Gon!"
PseudoGM: Not quite city sized. Maybe about the size of the village, back in the past. Looks like it'd probably take a few hours to casually stroll through, given the size. It's definitely a dome, but it's not in particularly great shape. Large chunks of missing from it at random locations. Some of the glass panels have been replaced with cheap look metal or wooden covers, particularly the ones
PseudoGM: closer to the edges, but the vast majority haven't.
Alder: "A dome! Civilization's answer to the cave."
PseudoGM: It's easy enough to kind of guess where the entrance is all the same from the outside lighting, which eventually leads you to a massive gate builts into the side of the dome. There's a smaller barricade set up in front of it, like a smaller metal fortress with razor wire lining it, and much smaller ennry way into *that*, along with a small handful of guards sporting rifles.
Chrysanthemum: "What's uncivilised about caves? Hmph."
Alder: "Time to pull the ol' 'wandering mercenary group' angle again. Look haggard, everyone."
Lyra: "That won't take any effort at this point"
PseudoGM: One of the benefits of wandering for nearly day in a wasteland, I suppose!
Alder: "Caves are, well… you know… musty! And dank!" He thinks for a second. "But so are some castles…?"
Alder shakes it off and advances toward the entryway.
Chrysanthemum: "Castles're just caves that someone put somewhere they don't belong."
Alder: "…well."
Alder: "I can't say you're wrong!" he retorts, with a smile.
PseudoGM: "It's always the strangest ones that wander outside…" "Woah, when the hell was the last time you saw a familiar?" "Isn't that a mystic…?" "Like I said, the strangest ones." Some chatter from the other side of the barricade as you approach, before a flap near the door opens up and a driftin looks out.
PseudoGM: "Judgin' from the lack of airship bombardment I'm assuming you're *not* from the Citadel…?"
Alder: "No! No, nothing so dreadful or glamourous."
Alder: "We're a wandering mercenary group!"
Lyra was going to say something, loooks at Alder says something and shrugs to herself
Lyra: "Pretty much"
Alder: "We haven't taken a job in, oh, quite a while, so we're very hungry. For work! And food. We're also very thirsty. For work! And- well, you know."
PseudoGM: A teeth clicking noise, briefly, followed by a sigh. "Well I suppose there's no harm in lettin' you in. Wouldn't want anyone turning me away if I found myself stuck out there, anyway." The window flap closes and there's a bit of hollaring, before the door opens up.
Alder: "Thank you!" he calls out, then turns to the party and whispers. "(Got 'em again!)"
Chrysanthemum: "(It's a good trick.)"
PseudoGM: There's a bit of stares as the group heads through the barricade, and then the gates into the dome, which are open. Inside: Well, it certainly seems like the city as seen better days. Most of the builds look old and worn out,
Lyra: "(What is going on here…)"
PseudoGM: Like there hasn't been maitence done on them in year, or repainted in decades. Nothing quite collapsing in on itself like the roof of the dome, but certainly nothing nice looking. It's mostly driftin, humans and the ocassional hundred loitering around from what you can see on the streets.
Alder tries his best to suppress a wince. "What ah… what do we call this commune, for reference," he asks of the gate guards before they stray too far away.
PseudoGM: "Dome fifty-two's the technical name if I remember right," And after stiffling a yawn, "Locals call it Yoran, though."
Alder: "Mm, thank you!" He continues deeper.
Chrysanthemum: "Mmm." He frowns, tromps on along, salutes a Hundred at one point. "(Whatever the Citadel is, sounds like bad news.)"
PseudoGM: There's an old looking sigh posted into the ground shortly after the entrance into the dome, leading away from most of the city proper and sort of off to the side, that reads "VISITOR'S CENTER"
Lyra: "Yoran, huhn…" she looks around as they get further inside "I guess we went forward this time…"
Lyra looks at the sign "Good plaec to start as any?"
Chrysanthemum: "Looks like people made a mess of everything, if'n y'ask me."
Alder nods at Lyra, then Chrysanthemum.
Lyra: "This has been annoying for a while, now"
Alder: "At least people are still around!"
Alder: "…right?"
Lyra: "Roughly so"
Chrysanthemum: "For the moment. Sounds like that Citadel's tryin' t'finish the job."
PseudoGM: The pathway seems to lead you through the more broken down part of the town and off to the side of the dome, though not to far from the barricade (actually it seems like everything close to the gate and barricade is pretty bad off), with less buildings that look like their in use or proper lighting, and more people huddled around trash can fires and the like. Most of them look pretty bored
PseudoGM: or tired, though a few spare you curious glances as you make your way through. Eventually you reach a large semi delipatated building that reads "VISITOR'S CENTER" . One of the double doors is missing from its hing, and it looks like the other's about to give out in the near future.
Lyra peers inside cautiously
Alder gives the other door a cautious push.
PseudoGM: Inside: it's mostly empty. There's a couple of ratting looking cots and blankets spread out on the ground, and a campfire dug out in the center with a ring of small rocks around it. Looks like there used to be a reception desk here, but it's unmanned and just has a laminated peice of paper on it that reads "MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME" .
Lyra: "A… Temporary… Resting spot?"
Chrysanthemum: "…lots of tourism money in the future, then."
PseudoGM: There's a handful of people of people in the building, most of them younger looking, that do their best to ignore your presence as you enter. Especially after noticing your weapons.
Lyra looks at Alder "Well, we've estabilished we're in an… Interesting place"
Lyra: "Wonder what our first priorities should be… Probably trying to locate where the stone might be at this point in time"
Alder: "That's… a good word to use, yes."
Alder: "Also good to locate- this actual point in time."
Alder: "I mean… I don't recognize the area at all, or any of the structures, so… just how far off are we?"
Lyra crosses her arms "Neither do I… Do they have any newspapers around?"
Alder: "(Hopefully they don't just burn them to keep the fire…)"
Chrysanthemum tromps over to the most-intimidated handful of people in the building and shakes 'em down for a newspaper. Unless they don't have newspapers in the future, then he's probably just fucked.
PseudoGM: You don't remember seeing any on the way in at least. Or any paper in general really.
PseudoGM: A mousey lookign driftin sqeeks as Chrys approach, and after a couple of back and forth look between the others they're with sighs. "C-can I help you… Sir…?"
Chrysanthemum: "Name's Chrysanthemum Thirteen! We've, uh, been on the road a while. How d'y'all get your news up in these parts?"
PseudoGM: "N-news…? Uh, mostly from the… traders, I guess? Not there's ever r-really much to say about what's going on anywhere…"
Chrysanthemum: "Tch. Fucken Citadel, huh. Does anyone even remember what started this mess in the first place these days?" He's going full-on crazy-old-veteran. Maybe someone will leak some info.
PseudoGM: A lot of collective head shaking. "It's been this way forever…"
Alder: "Forever sure is a long time."
PseudoGM: "W-well, longer than anyone's been alive, at least…"
Alder: "It's okay, I'm really bad with calendars too."
Alder turns to the party. "Though talking to the traders might be faster."
Chrysanthemum: "Heck, I figured we'd be the first to show up in a while, from th'way those guys were starin' at us, haha. But, yeah, good call."
Lyra crosses her arms, considering things "Yeah, we're not getting anywhere like this"
Alder: "Have a nice day!" he calls out behind himself, as he leaves the visitor's center.
PseudoGM: "First in m-months. … Uh, you, too."
PseudoGM: Outside: It's actually darker inside the dome than it was outside of it, especially due to the lack of decent lightning in this area of it. It looks like things are a bit brighter towards the west end, but otherwise.
PseudoGM: Might be a good idea to wait until morning in either case…?
Alder snaps his fingers, twice, thrice… can he get a good Will o' Wisp goin' here? [Sorcery]
PseudoGM: One of the perks of being a magician is, of course, being able to create your own light sources.
Alder: "Hm! At least the weave of magick still seems to be intact."
Alder: "Well… don't know if we're gonna find an Inn proper."
Alder: "May as well find a defensible enough corner and take watch."
Lyra: "Hrm… Camping out. Did we bring supplies for that?"
PseudoGM: There certainly wasn't anything advertising one on the way in, at least.
Alder: "We didn't really have the budget for travel supplies…"
Alder: "Such are the perils of hoping to fall into enemy clutches and have them be hospitable!"
Chrysanthemum: "Gahaha! Is that what you were hopin' for?"
Alder: "Well yeah… surely the driftin and If-ys wouldn't let us -starve-."
Alder: "They'd at least want us to have meat on our bones still before they roasted us!"
Alder: "Or uh… so some urban legends say."
Chrysanthemum turns his head to peeeeeer at Rudri.
Lyra: "I wonder how many of those legends actually exist and which you made up on the spot"
Alder grins at Lyra.
Alder: "I can at least say that Mystics are very smart… and very, very secluded."
Alder: "The two sort of balance each other out."
Alder clears his throat. "Um, but yes. Let's wait until there's a better timing. Honestly, the travel here alone was rough enough, even without the sudden time travel."
PseudoGM: If you head back to the visitor's center and don't feel like scaring the kids in their, the second floor's still empty. If not… well, there's a number of abandoned buildings in the area no one's really using, so there's places nearby with a roof at walls to rest in, at least.
Lyra would rather stay nearby other people, really
Alder will follow Lyra's recommendation!
Chrysanthemum isn't ALWAYS terrifying and weird. Just sometimes.
PseudoGM: Second floor it is! It's not the most comfortable night's rest you've ever had… but it still beat sleeping on rocks?
PseudoGM: In any case, dawn eventually comes after a few hours rest. And when you wake up, there's a middle aged canine hundred seated in a chair, right in front of the stairs down. Rather than the rags you saw on most of the people around this area, she's wearing something more like leather armor, and has a pair of knuckle dusters on one hand, while slowly eating an apple with the other, and has
PseudoGM: a pistol resting in her lap.
Lyra doesn't really opens her eyes from her resting state to say this "You look worried about something" she then looks at the newcomer, she herself had been sitting beside Chrysanthemum as he slept
PseudoGM: "Mornin'!"
Alder: "Apples. Apples! Does that mean coffee still exists?!" he asks, hopefully and perhaps a bit desperately.
Alder: "Er, oh-"
Alder: "I mean."
Alder: "Good morning!" he emotes, waving a hand over his head.
PseudoGM: "With enough Gon and the right connections, yeah."
Chrysanthemum salutes her, grinning. "How goes the hunt?"
PseudoGM: "My guys at the barricade said you were wandering mercenaries?"
Alder: "That'd be us."
PseudoGM: "And well suited to combat, from the looks of you?"
Alder: "Two for two so far, madam."
Lyra: "We've had experience"
PseudoGM: "And… still hungry for work, I take it?"
Chrysanthemum: "Lemme guess. You want us to beat th' tar outta somethin'?"
Chrysanthemum punches his fist into his open palm.
Alder stage whispers, "She's really good at this!"
PseudoGM: "As it turns out, I've got a whole clipboard fulla tasks that need doin' that no one's really got the time or motivation TO do."
PseudoGM: "So."
PseudoGM: "Seems as if we've maybe both got somethin' the other wants."
Alder: "Ahaha, well."
Lyra: "Sounds good enough to me"
Alder: "The guards might not have told that we're also hungry for information."
Alder: "So after a task, basking in the glow of a victory purse and winner's dinner, sit with us a spell and have a talk?"
PseudoGM: "I guess that's fair enough, yeah. Not sure how much there'd be to say that's any different from any other place, but it's probably good to get your baring regardless."
Chrysanthemum: "Gahaha! Works for me."
Alder nods at Chrys and then back at the mystery hundred. "It's a deal."
PseudoGM: "Alrighty." She places the apple in her mouth in order to each behind her back and pulls out a clipboard, then slides it on over towads Alder. Six big bullet points, with a couple of smaller details for each one, detail locations and other relevant information and what not.
[C] CLEAR OUT THE SHRINE
[C] CLEAR OUT THE ENERGTRON
[C] CLEAR OUT THE DEATH CORPS
[S] GATHER SOME FOOD
[S] INVESTIGATE THE AIR SYSTEMS
[S] INVESTIGATE THE SUBTERRANEAN TUNNELS
Lyra specifically eyes the firts one in the list. What is that one about?
PseudoGM: There used to be a shrine to some weird old ancestor worshiping religion, up in the north district. A couple of weeks back some robot biker gang took control of the shrine, though, and they've been kind of a pain in the ass for everyone nearby the area. Lots of noise and threats of violence for anyone that gets close.
Rudri: "… energtron" ?
PseudoGM: "Ain't got one where you come from?"
Lyra: "(now to hope at least the stone is still there)" she whispers to herself, then looks at the woman "Sadly, no"
Alder: "No I… think ours broke a long, long time ago."
Alder: "It's a very 'we don't talk about it' from our once-mayor."
PseudoGM: "It's sorta like… this really fancy sauna. Weird little pedastle sort of thing in the center. Load it up with this specific kinda nutrient block, and after a rest inside with it turned on, heals up wounds like no ones business, and does a good job of refillin' mana and luck reserves."
Rudri: "… don't suppose it fills up your belly while it's at it?"
PseudoGM: "Which is good for the people that get assigned to guard duty, patrols and the hunts. Only problem in some weird ass mutant plant thing sprouted up inside outa no where, and it's made using the damn thing impossible.
PseudoGM: She gives Rudri a look. "Hah, you and every other sucker wishes."
Lyra: "Sounds fairly useful, I suppose we could do that first"
Rudri: "… Pruning seems a quick and simple job to start."
Alder: "Either that or gather food first…"
PseudoGM: "You'd think that, but it's been doin' an admirable job of resisting." She shakes her head.
Alder: "Either way, tasks one and two are identified, I'd say."
Lyra: "Hrm… Well, let's get to work, then. If you guys are good to go"
Alder: "Ready and raring to go in the morning!"
Alder: "Let's gardening!"
Alder: "By which I mean kill a giant plant."
PseudoGM: The Hundred gives a salute, before standing up. "I'll check back in with you later, then. Have fun." And then heads out in a different direction.
Lyra: "One second"
Lyra: "My name's Lyra, good to meet you"
PseudoGM: "Hmm?"
Lyra: "It's awkward to talk without names"
PseudoGM: "Ah. Anna."
Chrysanthemum: "'Death Corps'. There's a cheerful name."
Alder bows. "Alder, at your service."
PseudoGM: She grins slightly. "They always DO seem unnecessarily delighted when they mow down a caravan, yeah."
Chrysanthemum: "Wonder how much they'll like a taste o' their own medicine…"
PseudoGM: "Never can tell with the Maxwellian."
PseudoGM: "Anywho, see ya later." A lazy wave, before heading off into the city.
Lyra furrows her brows, and waits until she leaves "Maxwellian?"
Alder: "Looks like a suit of armor, except more detailed, and if you reach inside them you get guts."
Alder hands Lyra the clipboard.
Alder: "(It's in teh notes.)"
Lyra picks up the clipboard, looks at it "Hrm… Like a different… Weirder… Familiar design, okay"
Lyra: "Well, right now we're going to worry about that big plant first. We need to have a way to recover after a scrape. After that I really want to deal with the shrine"
Lyra: "With some luck it's related to the stone"
Alder: "Sure, I'm up for that."
PseudoGM: (The jobs marked with [C] are the ones where they expect a fierce fight, by the by! And the ones marked with [S] do not forsee much in the way of combat to finish them.)
Lyra appears to have picked two combat jobs, how nice. Either way, Priorities
PseudoGM: At any rate - seems like the energtron's set up towards the west end of the building. Not to far away from the barricade, but in the other direction. Buildings are a bit nicer over hear, and the people are a bit less grimmy. No less scruffy though.
Lyra: "Hrm… This place certainly has seen better days, the people too" she looks over at the direction to the Energtron once more, looks ahead "Should be that way"
PseudoGM: The direction on the note pad made finding the building it's housed in easy enough - and rather than it being inside a building, the entire thing is a smaller building set up by itself off to the side of some larger ones, which ocassionally have people lightly armorered and armoed coming in and out.
Alder: "Do you think they're just rotating in and out combatants to try and wear the plant down?"
PseudoGM: No side windows for obvious reasons, though the notes say there's a sun window on the roof to let light in. The door's locked up and taped up, although it seems like there was a key taped to the clipboard when it was given to you.
Lyra: "I think it's more that they're going in and figuring out they can't do it and going backo ut"
Lyra looks at the key, looks at the door "Or probably it's just a guard to not let anyone too stupid for their bravery to get in"
PseudoGM: Oh, no. No one's going into the energtron - they're going in and out of the nearby buildings. You sort of get the impression that's the base of operations for their guards.
[OOC] Lyra: Oh
Alder: "Well that sure as heck isn't us!"
Alder heads right up to the locked doors and starts fumbling for the clipboard-key to unlock them.
Lyra looks at Alder, makes the flattest stare at him, snatches the key and jumps on his arm to get enough height to unlock the door
PseudoGM: Pops open easy enough! Opening the door takes a bit more work though - lot of resistance from whatever slimey gunk is all over the floors. Inside it's kind of like someone set up a miniture jungle replica inside of a green house - it's hot, it's muggy, and there's strange plants covering everything.
Lyra looks at the floor… And climbs up Chrysanthemum's shoulders
Alder: "Hope they also have a bathhouse nearby…"
PseudoGM: As the door opens a few of the flowers turn to face it, as a couple of vines shoot up and start travelling towards it with hostile intent! Looks like you aren't the first group that's tried to remove it before, and it doesn't intent to go anywhere any time soon.

Lyra looks at the smoldering plants "That wasn't even that hard, albeit somewhat annoying…" she looks down at the floor from her perch "All this gunk, too…"
Lyra: "I hope that's everything"
PseudoGM: A moment later, someone's head pokes in through the doorway, glancing about at the scoarch marks and general mayhem. "… Oh, huh! She finally conned someone into killing that thing."
Alder: "You're welcome!"
Alder: "Now everyone can take super-amazing baths!"
Chrysanthemum: "…huh. Was that it? Was half expectin' there t'be a big nasty bulbous monstery sucker somewhere lurkin' in the middle o' all that that we just hadn't gotten ta yet." He laughs!
PseudoGM: They make a face, still looking over the room. "Yeah… once someone… cleans in here, gross."
Alder pauses, and turns to Chrysanthemum. "You know… I was expecting the same thing."
Lyra: "So was I, happy to be surprised in this instance"
Lyra looks at whoever just got in "Either way, Enertron is ready to be maintained"
Alder: "Anyway, cleaning isn't on the to-do list for us."
PseudoGM: "…Eesh. Guess I should go find someone lower on the totem pole to do it before it gets assigned to *me*."
Alder winks. "That's a go-getter for ya'."
PseudoGM: They give a wave, then take off towards the nearby buildings.
Lyra: "Hrm… I was hoping we could use the thing, but apparently not"
Rudri: "So… what was the other thing we were going to take care of first?"
Alder: "So!" He shoulders his rifle.
Alder: "I'm feeling pretty loaded for bear, to be honest."
Alder: "I hope they can get it working overnight at least."
PseudoGM: Which… it'll take a while to get it cleaned up, but that's luckily someone elses job. [Energtron is now available] [Functions as an Inn - you still need to buy the nutrien blocks, they don't have enough of those to just give 'em out for free to anyone.]
Lyra: "Deal with some… Mechanical hooligans in the shrine"
Alder: "Mm-hmm!"
