EC Session 7.14

O'dark AM, Merc 3 Gaiaday. //
It takes a while to bust through the doors, but the group finally reaches the center stairwell of the citadel, suspended inside the giant void in the ice.
Riia thumbs upwards.
Those not focusing on breaking in have managed to keep Biggs, Hicks, and Wedge from setting foot on the citadel so far.
[OOC] ORN: oh yeah, we were mining the place as per hector's method
At the top of the spiral staircase - hardened ice, naturally - is one last door. It resists attempts to push it inwards.
[OOC] Riia: Try pulling?
Riia looks for a catch or locking mechanism on the door.
There is an ordinary-looking handle on the door.
ORN prepares a lancer to save time if she needs it blown
Cassandra_Lionheart looks behind the group for the trio, just in case.
Hector knocks on the door.
The trio is still out there, ducking and weaving and trying to get on the citadel.
Cassandra_Lionheart continues to quietly watch them, knowing the others have the situation under control.
[OOC] Hector: brb, toilet
Hector: //)) //
No response comes from Hector's knocking.
Indeed, no sound of any sort comes through the door.
[OOC] ORN: … they're probably setting up charges to blow the damn building then
Just as the Trio gets close, Eric disconnects another wire, sending them back almost to the wall.
Riia taps Hector on the shoulder, then signs: "Explosives blow door?"
[OOC] Pak: Back
Cassandra_Lionheart nods to Eric "Good work!"
ORN nods at Riia
[OOC] ORN: so would hector but he's freezing his ass off in the little yeti's room
Pak tries the door handle. c.c
ORN shakes head and stops pak
ORN: "It is likely rigged. Although it is unlikely to seriously harm anyone here, it could trigger something worse for Sakha."
Pak: "…"
ORN: "It would make a fair amount of sense given the current invader tactics for the door to trigger, and therefore open onto, such a scene."
Pak: "But blowing it open would… c_c;"
Pak: "…Wait. What the hell am I doing?"
Hector: "Dammit! We're so close."
[OOC] Hector: Hi.
ORN: "likely blast away any fine mechanisms."
Pak just opens a teleport screen onto the other door.
ORN nods at Pak
Pak as in, uses teleport to make the door not-there, essentially.
Hector: "Hm."
Felicia continues cutting/disabling wires. "Any time today, would be good."
The handle jiggles in Pak's hands. The door itself bounces off Pak's spell, though, redirecting the screen to the air just in front of the door.
Pak: "Aw."
Pak: "It didn't work."
Pak: "Can't we just open it? ._."
Cassandra Lionheart: "Hmm..A Good ram maybe?"
ORN will blow out and lancer the wall
Hector: "Try not to blow up the whole door. Just enough for us to get through."
ORN: //(to the side. a little longer, but hey) //
The wall around the door deflects ORN's explosion - fortunately, into the wall nearby, missing Felicia and Hector by a hair's breadth.
Riia frowns.
Hector puts his hands against the door and pushes while thinking of Sakha. It worked in the illusion, so maybe it works here.
Riia bites her lip…
[OOC] Riia: How is the stairwell shaped?
Hector pushes and pushes, but the door does not give way.
ORN: "… … … Riia. can you replicate these deflections somehow behind This Group?"
[OOC] Riia: That is, is there a central column all the way up, or a central gap?
The stairwell is a spiral inside a circular tower.
There is a central support pole.
Hector: "How are we supposed to get through? Nothing we can come up with'll work. DAMMIT! *he kicks the door out of frustration, but not hard enough to break his foot*"
ORN puts hand on Hector
[OOC] Riia: Rats- was gonna try dropping to the bottom and seeing who the 'hell prisoner' was.
ORN: "calm will function better. Destructive options have not been exhausted yet"
ORN looks back at Riia and Eric
Riia frowns.
Pak: "God dammit!"
Riia signs: "Magical flame?"
Pak turns the handle.
Cassandra_Lionheart looks at the door lock itself.
ORN: "If a similar area can be created to enclose the area… something will be forced to give when presented with multiple rebounds of an expanding explosion"
The well seems deep enough that just jumping, if it were possible, would be unadvisable without Float magic, which would make dropping take a while.
The handle turns in Pak's hand.
[OOC] Riia: Ah, so there is a well.
Felicia: "…"
[OOC] WC GM: Cassandra: Awareness.
Felicia blinks.
Cassandra Lionheart rolled 1d100 and got 18 for a total of 18
Cassandra can not see a lock on the door.
Cassandra Lionheart: "Well, I'm out of ideas."
[OOC] ORN: still waiting on riia's response
ORN: "… … …"
Pak opens the door.
ORN: "Pak. Can your portal be aimed at the door?"
Pak: "I tried that!"
[OOC] WC GM: Pak: pushing on the door?
[OOC] Pak: pulling.
Felicia: "…Did none of you actually try opening the door?"
Hector furrows his brow as Pak messes with the door.
The door easily pulls open.
ORN shrugs
Pak: "I was TRYING to, but ORN told me to stop."
Pak enters, shooting a glare back at him.
ORN: "They tried it first, as Riia was searching for explosives"
Hector: "Well, what do you know. It's not locked. Hell, the puzzle was probably that there wasn't one."
Hector: "Alright, everyone…let's go!"
[OOC] Riia: You know what makes this really depressing? What was the first thing I said about the door?
[OOC] WC GM: I noticed. :P
[OOC] Hector: I can barely remember what we do from week to week.
[OOC] Hector: Two weeks mean I can only recall vague details.
[OOC] Riia: That was this session, Hector.
Cassandra_Lionheart nods, and rushes in behind the group
Riia heads into the room, looking for Sakha…
[OOC] Hector: …nevermind.
Inside is obvious magitech machinery, linked to a bed, upon which lies Sakha.
Felicia follows after.
Riia tries to determine what purpose the machinery serves.
Hector: "Sakha!"
The machinery culminates in a skullcap on Sakha's head. Sakha is unconscious.
Ahiru runs up to the bed and hugs Sakha.
Hector runs over to the bed, then looks up at the machines.
ORN looks at Riia
Hector: "One last step…and you're back with us."
ORN: "?"
Riia blinks
ORN goes and takes a look at all the alien tech
Riia signs: "Is learning pod."
ORN: "learning… pod?"
Riia tilts her head, a bit confused by this. She then looks for a way to see what program the device is teaching Sakha.
Hector: "Would turning it off or taking the thing offa Sakha's head be a bad idea?"
[OOC] Riia: That way she knows how to interrupt safely…
ORN: "It seems rather unlikely this would be used to teach opponents in a good manner. Does it have more… offensive uses, such as mind control?"
Pak: "Hmm."
Cassandra Lionheart: "I really do not know Hector."
Riia nods.
ORN will try feeling around the thing for how its connected and built at least
Riia signs: "Hazardous to wake."
There is a computer nearby running the program.
[OOC] WC GM: Lang: Ancient to read its display.
ORN checks the old integrated crystals from the library in case they've got a translation for this
Riia rolled 1d100 and got 18 for a total of 18
[OOC] Riia: Pass, assuming Ancient still equals Viera
ORN gets the sense that this was a bit jury-rigged. Feeling out the walls, though, it feels like the prison was designed to keep its prisoner safe - more to resist breakouts than breakins.
[OOC] WC GM: It does.
[OOC] ORN: or to keep things safe FROM the prisoner then
Riia frowns.
Hector: "Orn, Riia. Any way we can get this thing outta commission and not mess up Sakha?"
ORN: "… This has been hastily armored and prepared to ensure her inability to escape."
Riia signs: "Looks like is sim of library. Not sure to deactivate.."
Hector: "We need solutions and we need them now."
ORN: "The room, that is. However, outside intereference should prove effective."
ORN: "Deactivation can be performed by either of these two."
ORN: "Suggestions, Riia?"
Riia signs: "Will end in 8 or so hours…but not safe to do sooner."
ORN feels a bit deeper, see if he can maybe interact with the alien tech
Riia frowns.
ORN: "What is being… "
ORN: "Risk may be preferable to guaranteed loss"
Riia signs- "Safest way to end would be to wait. But with Trio on way…"
Riia signs: "Is in sim of VR library."
[OOC] Eric Lionheart: Somehow I doubt Eric can hold off the trio for 8 hours. >.>
Riia signs: "For her, probably relaxing."
Cassandra Lionheart: "Hmmm…Odd."
ORN: "… … that seems somewhat too … benign"
ORN: "What are its contents?"
Riia shrugs
Riia signs: "Maybe was longest sim they had."
Riia signs: "Maybe they never thought to use as weapon."
Riia signs: "Who can say?"
The walls resist assimilation. The computer - ORN could assimilate with it, but quickly sees that melding beyond the casing will risk system shutdown.
Hector: "Can't we speed it up or something?"
Riia shakes head and signs "Risks damage."
Hector: "We need to take a leap of faith in this case. We just need t'find where 'n when we gotta jump."
Cassandra_Lionheart sighs
Hector: "Can either a'you actually mess with the program itself?"
ORN: "It is possible. However system deactivation is very likely from direct interaction"
ORN: "it is badly designed, that way."
Riia sighs. "Risks damage…"
ORN: "However, the system can be assimilated entirely."
ORN: "Up to you, Hector"
ORN keeps arm stuck on there waiting for confirmation
Pak: "Is there any way we could try to interact with her to get her to wake up early?"
ORN: "Nothing is certain in any case. Which do you prefer?"
ORN shrugs
ORN: "Have you tried oral contact?"
Felicia: "…"
Pak: "Like, adding a file into the library saying "
hey you guys" or something"
[OOC] WC GM: Hector: you have a Lore: Tactics or something you could roll against?
[OOC] Hector: I have a Tactics%.
[OOC] WC GM: That'll work
Hector rolled 1d100 and got 9 for a total of 9
ORN: "That is possible through assimilation. As was stated, however, This Unit risks the system shutting down; it is ill-designed for surviving minor purtubations caused by the process"
[OOC] Hector: …critpass.
Hector gets an Idea!
[OOC] Hector: My Tactics% is 133, so you'd have to give me a penalty of 35 or so for me to even FAIL.
[OOC] ORN: .. huh, I thought we weren't allowed to bring it up past 100?
[OOC] Felicia: My favorite part about Tactics% is the job doesnt use it at all
[OOC] Felicia: It's an EXP formula
[OOC] Pak: It's a EXP skill
[OOC] ORN: ah
Hector: "Alright, everyone. Let's seal off the door."
Hector: "We've had a long day, and we could use the rest."
Pak: "Kay!"
ORN: "hm?"
Pak closes the door.
Pak starts piling things in front of it.
Hector: "We're just going to have to wait this out. The wise thing to do would be to simply wait this out."
Hector stops a second, wondering why what he said sounded so odd.
ORN blinks, shrugs, and pulls out for now
The room is fairly spartan, but Pak manages to barricade the door in such a way as to prevent it from being pulled open.
ORN: "Then let This Group hope no brainwashing is involved."
Cassandra_Lionheart nods
ORN will fuse whatever's pushed against the door together to help
Pak: "…Oh, wait, it pulls open."
Riia blinks
Pak Aha!~
Riia holds a hand up
Pak gets an idea.
Pak: "Riia!"
Riia signs: "Dark Prisoner?"
Eric manages to figure out what happened and get inside the room before the barricade is set up.
Pak gets out a piece of paper.
Riia replaces - "Hell Prisoner?"
ORN nods
Pak: "Here, write 'Please push door to open' on this sign."
Riia blinks at Pak and grins.
[OOC] WC GM: At least, I assume Eric's player has no objection. ;)
ORN: "That could be of interest. however, that would allow, if the party remains together, the trio to potentially walk in and finish off sakha in her sleep, to their great amusement."
Hector: "The sad thing, and the good thing, is that would actually work on the trio."
Pak: "Write it in Vieran, please."
Riia shrugs- "Were capable before."
Eric Lionheart: "Whew…I couldn't hold them off any longer…looks like I retreated just in time…"
Cassandra_Lionheart laughs "Lets put the sign on the door."
Riia writes the note in a firm, careful hand. In Vieran.
Pak good!
Pak hangs it outside.
Pak then retreats inside and barricades the door.
Pak: "That should keep them busy."
ORN nods at Riia
Riia holds up a hand!
Eric Lionheart: "So, what did I miss?"
Riia signs at Pak: "Wait, we should check Hell Prisoner!"
Pak hi-5 Riia.
Pak: "…Okay!"
ORN: "This Unit will join in investigating the lower region if you wish. This Unit would suggest at least a few remain above, however."
Riia frowns.
Riia will go down.
[OOC] Riia: You will all be protected.
Cassandra Lionheart: "I'll stay here."
Pak: "I'd like to go, but."
ORN: "?"
ORN looks at Pak curiously
Pak: "I wanna make sure Sakha's okay. :O"
ORN nod
Ahiru decides to go down.
ORN: "In any case it is likely possible for you to go afterwards"
Pak: "Right."
Pak: "Oh, yeah."
Pak: "Password."
The Trio seem to be taking their time getting to the citadel. The stairwell is still safe for the moment.
Pak: "We need a password for you guys to get back in."
ORN: "? ? ? How so?"
Riia opens her mouth to offer a suggestion, but.
Pak: "Well, if we hear someone banging on the door, and they don't say the password, we'll know it isn't you."
Pak: "How about Trombe for a password?"
ORN: "Would that not simply allow anyone knowing the password to come through?"
Pak: "I guess, but I don't see…"
Pak: "I mean, otherwise, how else would you guys get back in?"
ORN: "… What would stop us?"
Pak: "…The barricade?"
Pak points.
ORN: "And a password would allow entry through it how?"
Eric Lionheart: "They likely won't get into this building for a little bit yet."
Cassandra Lionheart: "Yeah, I swear they are going to actually think this out."
Pak: "We'd open the barricade for you if you gave the password."
ORN: "If you hear explosions or strikes against the barricade, simply use your sight capabilities to discern those on the other side"
Pak: "…Fine."
Pak sighs."
Pak: "Lemme test to see if that works."
Eric Lionheart: "I set up a few Walls, and just in case they got smart, I put up a bit of Reflect behind a few of those Walls."
Pak does just that, casting sight.
ORN: "Assuming of course it prevents quieter noises such as voice to carry through, which would disable the use of passwords anyways."
Eric Lionheart: "However, they will not last forever. If you are going to do anything, now is the time."
Hector: "Hm."
The door does not allow Sight to pass through either. It seems to resist all magic.
Riia checks her gel bubblizer, wondering if it'll still serve as a way to arrest falls before death.
Pak: "…fine."
Pak: "Look, just yell trombe if you want back in."
Cassandra_Lionheart nods
Pak: "Sight doesn't work."
Pak: "And don't tell anyone else the password either!"
ORN shrugs, moves the barricades off and starts heading down
[OOC] WC GM: Who all is going down?
[OOC] Pak: I imagine me and Hector are staying
[OOC] Cassandra Lionheart: I'm staying also.
[OOC] Pak: And Cassie
Eric_Lionheart is staying put. He has used up quite a bit of his magical reserves and needs time to rest.
[OOC] Pak: Ahiru, Riia and ORN are going
[OOC] Hector: Obviously staying.
[OOC] Pak: Is Felicia going?
Hector: "I'll stay here. I wouldn't feel right if I didn't."
[OOC] Pak: 4-4 split.
[OOC] Felicia: I was gonna stay, but since Eric is stay- yeah…
[OOC] WC GM: Pak/Ahiru/Riia/ORN going, Felicia/Cassandra/Eric/Hector/Sakha staying, then.
[OOC] Felicia: What
[OOC] Pak: huh? I'm staying
[OOC] Pak: Felicia is going
[OOC] WC GM: Ah - switch Pak and Felicia in that list, then.
Felicia: "I guess I'll head down with them, then…"
[OOC] WC GM: This is why I confirmed it. ;)
The four adventurers head out! Down the stairs…
…and down more stairs…
…past the center point…
…and down more stairs…
…suffice it to say, it is a bit of a walk before they finally reach a similar door at the bottom.
ORN shrugs and gives pulling it open a shot
Sure enough, it works.
ORN glares at the door a little annoyed, and walks in taking a good look
The door seems completely indifferent to ORN's annoyance.
The layout down here is a little different. No machines, no bed, just one giant ice crystal with Fakir inside.
Riia prepares to murder ice crystals.
ORN gets closer and checks the crystal's assimilation tolerance
Riia signs at Ahiru: "Pyrtyr form?"
[OOC] WC GM: Lore: Magic, anyone who is downstairs, if it's not obvious.
Riia rolled 1d100 and got 23 for a total of 23
Felicia rolled 1d100 and got 37 for a total of 37
[OOC] Riia: Pass
[OOC] ORN: mineral lore?
[OOC] Felicia: Pass by 63
[OOC] ORN: different approach granted but..
Ahiru walks up and touches the ice.
[OOC] WC GM: No, magic.
Riia taps Ahiru, then points at her sign.
Felicia waves a bit of flame along the edge of her sword in front of the frozen Fakir.
ORN can tell that this is magic ice. It could be assimilated - it might regenerate, though.
The ice melts where Felicia's sword passes by.
ORN will keep assimilating, shaping the stuff away so they can more easily get a hole to pull fakir out
Riia replaces the text on the sign (Pyrtyr) with a line that reads, "Area flame will melt. Is like Freeze spell."
Felicia: "Yeah, any fire will do. Just don't hit him."
[OOC] WC GM: So, Felicia keeps sword-swinging?
[OOC] Felicia: Ayup
Riia watches, pointing out weak points in the crystal…
Between the flames and ORN's leeching away of ice, the magic slowly disentigrates - until the spell, and the crystal, shatters. Fakir lands on his hands and knees, gasping for air.
ORN will reis-wind, can afford to get rid of that ice anyways; stupid cardboard crap taste
Fakir blinks. "Who-who's there? My sight's still recovering."
ORN: "This Unit, as well as Riia, Felicia and your favorite Winged headwear."
[OOC] Pak: oh come on
ORN: "Do not resist the dust overlay. It will make you better."
ORN: "… FEEL better."
Riia claps a hand on Fakir's shoulder..
[OOC] Riia: He has….hybernation….sickness?
[OOC] Riia: Your eyesight will return in time.
[OOC] Pak: being frozen in carbonite does that to ya
[OOC] WC GM: Waiting for Ahiru's reaction
Ahiru hugs Fakir.
Fakir: "A…Ahiru? Is that you?"
Fakir hugs back.
Ahiru: "Yes!"
ORN: "The others have secured a small area above."
ORN picks up the two lovers (er, as a bundle, not separating)
Gunfire sounds from above.
ORN: "This Unit shall bring you there. Do not pay attention to This Unit. Continue your reunion as you trav~ … Travel."
Biggs: "Which way do you think they went?"
ORN stares at the other two
Wedge: "Let's try up!"
Hicks: "Let's try down!"
Riia arms rifle.
Felicia: "We should probably get back…"
Ahiru turns into a duck in preparation.
Riia shrugs and signs: "Trio between us and group. No faster way to get there…"
Fakir: "Who is this Trio?"
Felicia: "Hicks. Biggs. Wedge."
Biggs: "Up first."
The sound of chocobos tromping up the stairs is quite audible to both parties.
Riia grimaces.
Riia leads the group up and after them.
Fakir: "…what are they doing out here?"
Riia signs: "Flank em!"
Felicia: "…Looks like theyre heading up first. Let's try and catch them with a pincer from behind."
Cassandra_Lionheart hears the stomping and pulls out her sword.
Felicia nods.
Felicia: "Long story. Let's move."
Biggs: "'Push door to open.' Alright, PUSH!"
The Trio's chocobos ram the door. It does not budge.
ORN tries to be quiet, but will let the others go up first since he's carrying a few and not as good at stealthiness
Pak perks.
Pak: "…Well."
Pak: "Looks like it worked…"
Cassandra_Lionheart smiles quietly…its working for now.
The Trio try it again - and again.
Riia is laughing uproariously, though no one can tell.
Those outside can see the Trio filling the stairway. Getting into position to ram the door took some interesting positioning.
Wedge: "This isn't working."
Biggs: "Let's try some FIREPOWER!"
Eric_Lionheart Walls and Reflects the door.
The door resists Eric's protective spells as well.
[OOC] ORN: if you wanna put a portal or reflect BEHIND them too now's the time (door already has it eric)
Hicks: "Gotcha! QUAKE!"
Hicks' chocobo stomps the stairwell.
WC GM rolled 1d100 and got 79 for a total of 79
WC GM rolled 5d8+273 and got 8, 8, 4, 7, 4 for a total of 304
Those on the stairs take 304, MARM Earth damage.
The stairs begin to crack as well.
Cassandra Lionheart: "Darn fools.."
Hector: "Sounds like something's going on outside. I think we should check it out."
[OOC] Riia: ….Is Hector drunk?
[OOC] Hector: …what?
[OOC] Hector: If people are slamming into the door, and the party's down there…
[OOC] Hector: In all fairness, I've barely been paying any attention 'cause we haven't gotten shit done up here since half the party went down there.
[OOC] Riia: It's kinda obvious it's the trio. Their voices, chocobo stomping sounds…
Pak: "Hmm…"
[OOC] WC GM: Fastforwarding, then.
Pak: "Lemme check."
The stairs crack further.
[OOC] Riia: Also, they're blasting the door with everything they've got, so opening it would be a bad idea.
Riia hmmms.
Pak: "…"
Pak: "Wait, let's not.
[OOC] Felicia: Alternatively, let the stairs collapse
Riia eyes the crumbling stairrs.
Pak: "It's being really loud out there. It's probably dangerous."
Wedge: "Do you see that?"
[OOC] Riia: Attack first, or back off?
Hector: "Mm."
Hicks: "We might want to get off before this gives way."
Riia signs to Felicia and ORN. "Attack first or back off?"
Riia listens to Hicks.
Biggs: "Keep attacking! We'll blow in that door!"
Riia signs: "Attack first."
[OOC] Pak: …oh hey you guys. You could go back to the other saferoom and hideout there.
Felicia: "Definitely."
ORN puts the two lovers down
[OOC] Riia: If only we had some way of coordinating the attack!
ORN breaks open his arm and starts charging
Wedge and Hicks look at each other - then drop, as the top of the stairs begins to give way.
Those below them see an incoming stairwell, with chocbos and riders incoming.
Riia blinks and RUNS up the stairs.
[OOC] WC GM: Are You Sure You Want To Do That?
[OOC] WC GM: Up the stairs = directly at the incoming problem.
ORN GRABS riia by the collar, throws her behind himself, and fires while setting up to impale the bastards as they come down
ORN will grow himself into as many damn spikes as he can in the short available time
[OOC] Riia: Are they rolling down? I assumed they were directly above.
[OOC] WC GM: They're falling.
[OOC] WC GM: Straight down, on top of you.
[OOC] Felicia: Theyre falling, along with the stairs
[OOC] ORN: spiral stairs after all
ORN's spikes impale the ice stairs nicely. He can't see if they get through, given the angle.
[OOC] Riia: Yeh, so up or down the /stairs/ should mean out from directly under. Actually should be safer than down, since down means they could hit and roll.
[OOC] WC GM: No, the entire stairwell is falling.
ORN waits a second, and shards everything: CB upwards
[OOC] WC GM: They're filling the stairwell.
[OOC] WC GM: There is no place that is not directly under.
[OOC] Felicia: Tiny stairwell is tiny
[OOC] ORN: I figure if they didn't get impaled, at least they'll get shotgunned
Felicia: "…Change of plans."
[OOC] ORN: if they did, internal shotgun
ORN's efforts slow down the Trio's decent, buying a few more seconds.
Riia frowns.
Felicia grabs Riia, and begins rushing down the stairs. "Better to get to the ground before they get to us…and THEN to the ground."
Riia nods.
Riia signs: "Hell Door is barrier, too."
ORN will try and spike things as much as possible. its not often we get them this close, and if This Unit can be the meatgrinder that ends this incarnation, so much the better
Felicia drags Riia - who is still attached to ORN, who still has Fakir and Ahiru on him.
Felicia: "Heavy… ;;"
It is close, but Felicia barely manages to drag the party through the door before the stairwell and Trio crash on the other side.
Pak: "…The noise is gone now."
Eric Lionheart: "Indeed. Should we take a look?"
Pak: "…I'll peek."
Cassandra Lionheart: "I think we should."
Pak quiiietly peeks outside. Very carefully.
The one step in front of the door is still there - cracked, but present. The next step is at the bottom of the well.
Hector: "Stay outta sight, at least."
Hector: "Pak'll go. He's the smallest. Cassie, you and Eric stay here."
Cassandra_Lionheart nods
ORN: "… This Unit suggests finishing them while they still suffer from the fall."
Pak: "…"
Pak: "W-what."
Pak: "All the stairs are gone."
Pak …
[OOC] Riia: That's what teleportation is for, Pak.
Pak: "Okay."
Riia slides a round into her rifle…
ORN will open the door (that might require some pushing mind you but that's what 28str is for)
Pak: "I'll be back in a second. Keep the door open."
Pak teleports down to the bottom of the well and looks around.
ORN is unable to open the door. Must be that large volume of ice behind it.
Pak sees lots of ice rubble. Curiously, no sign of the Trio.
Pak: "…Huh."
Pak looks at the nearby door. Is it blocked?
Felicia: "Stuck?"
The door is quite thoroughly blocked.
Pak hm.
Pak thinks.
ORN: "The mass on the other side appears too great to simply push open. Plasma is recommended."
Fortunately, the ice that used to be the stairs does not seem to be as hard as the prison cells.
Felicia: "Could try, assuming the door doesnt block that too."
Pak casts Demi on the rubble, to reduce the amount blocking by half.
ORN gives the door another good shove and then waits for felicia to take position
[OOC] ORN: huh. hadn't noticed pak's thing
ORN shoves the door just after Pak crushes the ice. Pak is almost hit by the door, which is now open a crack - barely wide enough for duck-Ahiru.
Ahiru wiggles out.
Eric_Lionheart looks out the door. "Quite the mess…"
Pak eep.
Pak: "…Oh, hai, Ahiru."
Pak: "You guys behind there…?"
Felicia: "Yup."
Pak: "Well."
Pak: "If you can get out, I can take you back up."
ORN: "Pak."
Pak: "…Ooh! Wait, the door's cracked."
ORN stares, looking for evidence of the trio
Pak: "Even better."
[OOC] Felicia: No, it's open a crack
[OOC] ORN: cracks can be looked through, even if just a bit
Pak casts teleport through the crack, allowing them to escape out on top to the pile of rubble.
Riia leads the group out of the room.
[OOC] Pak: Cracked = open a crack
[OOC] Felicia: LIES
[OOC] Felicia: I blame the english language
Riia leads the group through Pak's teleport, or something. The group gets to the pile eventually.
ORN looks for more evidence of where the bas~ trio is
[OOC] ORN: Failing that there's gonna be some 'just in case' stomping
[OOC] Hector: So now the rest of you are going to teleport back into the sealed room?
[OOC] ORN: but only if nothing is found from looking around
There is no sign of the trio, but there is that one door midway through. They must have escaped through there.
Felicia: "We found Fakir, at least."
Felicia: "Though he might still be blind… or something."
Fakir: "My sight is recovering."
Fakir stands, once returned to the upper room.
[OOC] WC GM: So, everyone's heading back to the top room?
ORN nods
Pak: "Huh."
Hector: "Hey, good to see you again."
He stands up for a moment. "Alright. Let's rest here. Anyone who feels like it, barricade the door up even more."
Pak anyway, teleports everyone to the top room. Shuts the door and barricades it again once everyone's in, and sighs, a bit tired from all his magic-use.
Fakir: "I am sorry I have not been able to be of more help. When the yeti dragged me inside, I thought I might be able to confront their leader."
ORN: "Please do not say you attempted to reason with it"
Fakir: "You saw the result."
ORN throws a quick glare at a certain mediator
ORN nods
ORN: "This Unit will once more strongly recommend you remain in the vicinity of This Group at all times."
Fakir: "Reason? There are several here who are not beyond that, but their leadership is."
ORN: "This will reduce incidences of capture, freezing, petrification and sad Ahirus"
Hector: "So we can safely assume that when we defeat the Yeti leader, many will lose their will to fight and not obstruct our next objective?"
ORN: "Are you aware they are quite content using their own offspring variants as walking explosives, thrown off like it was nonsentient ammunition from This Unit?"
Fakir: "I am."
Fakir: "And yes - though it will take more than that to fully pacify them."
ORN: "Those willing to surrender may be spared, but one must consider the fact that this race as a whole has, without much obstruction, supposedly annihilated many worlds fully capable of sentience before this one, and are actively working towards various cataclysmic ends for those not suited to their climates"
Fakir: "I assume your next objective, once you have secured…what Chilla has become…is our remaining moon?"
ORN: "The Annihilation and replacement of Grav will proceed next, correct."
Eric Lionheart: "We've learned a few things since, however."
ORN: "It is likely there will be interference from Plu and Min in some form, although their exact hostility status has not yet been properly established."
ORN: "Not that that ever changes anything, given even Aer decided it wished to initiate combat."
Fakir: "I doubt it had a say in the matter."
Eric Lionheart: "The last time I used my magic to scan the trio, it revealed they was the avatars of Plu, Min, and Grav. If this is true, can we actually afford to defeat them without tipping the balance even further?"
ORN stares at Eric
Pak: "Maybe we have to defeat all three simultaneously."
ORN: "It may in fact be quite possible"
ORN: "The balance could be tipped in a more… appropriate manner with retreat"
ORN: "… Disrupt Grav's Avatar… and run, waiting some time before disrupting the other two."
Fakir blinks. "Wait, back up. Avatar?"
ORN: "This would force them to follow This Group for additional showdowns on the moon"
ORN: "while additionally disrupting all gravitics available to the invasion force, to the benefit of those fighting them off."
Fakir: "…you speak as if you have encountered them a lot."
Cassandra_Lionheart nods "We have."
Eric Lionheart: "We've learned that each time a spirit is defeated and sealed in Ahiru's amulet, the strength of the remaining ones increses."
Fakir: "…"
Felicia: "For weeks, now."
ORN: "The "
trio" has been encountered several times for each spirit This Group has fought."
Fakir: "…"
Felicia: "Months, even."
fakir: "…would you consider yourselves…heroes?"
[OOC] ORN: biggs is the grav one right?
[OOC] Pak: yes.
[OOC] WC GM: According to the scan, yes.
ORN: "Heroes requires definition"
[OOC] Pak: fat joke lol){)
Cassandra Lionheart: "I think, right now, we are pawns."
ORN: "Hicks, Wedge are limited in their hostility. The elimination and suppression of Biggs would leave them confused for a time."
Fakir stares at the group, wide eyed.
Eric Lionheart: "The scan made it seem like Biggs could have been forced into it if I recall."
Fakir: "You…they…no. It can't be that simple."
Cassandra_Lionheart looks at Fakir "Huh?"
Hector scratches the back of his head. "I'm not a hero. Just a guy who doesn't want to live in a world that doesn't, y'know, exist."
ORN: "In any case it may be possible to end hostilities from the two males through the elimination of the controlling force. Ending hostility in all worlds is the primary issue here."
Fakir sits down heavily. "The reason for Grav's distraction. The reason you've had time to seal the spirits. The reason why you've kept fighting them."
Cassandra Lionheart: "Yes Fakir?"
ORN: "If you wish to define heroes as ones actively functioning towards the betterment of all friendlies and neutrals through mass destruction of hostilities, then yes, This Group is a shining beacon of joy and pleasure."
Fakir: "Consider. What are Plu and Min?"
ORN: "Avatars of, as This Unit has had it explained to, White and Dark, primarily as the ambiguous moral and emotional connotations each tends to carry in generally accepted lore"
Cassandra Lionheart: "Holy and darkness…If memory serves correctly."
Felicia: "Light, Shadow. Opposites."
Fakir nods. "And what is heroism - what you've been doing?"
ORN: "Opposites, but requiring eachother"
ORN: "The application of violence towards ends benefiting the greater good of all those not harboring hostile thoughts and ill intentions"
Cassandra_Lionheart thinks for a bit.
Fakir: "…I'm sure you've done non-violent deeds too. Now, consider what that is, in relation to Plu and Min."
ORN: "A combination of excessive negative emotion, mostly dulled through time due to the constant ineptness of them, and of positive feelings reinforced through the various shiny things obtained from their repetitive elimination, in the name of bringing joy to those in need"
Fakir: "…not quite."
He nods to Cassandra. "Care to take a try?"
Cassandra Lionheart: "Wait? Are you saying we are the voice of reason to thier madness?"
ORN: "This would make both hostility and heroism an excellent source of sustenence for their existance, however, increasing their influence, would it not?"
Eric Lionheart: "Hmm…"
Fakir nods. "Not just sustinence."
Fakir: "More like addiction, if this has been going on for months."
Eric Lionheart: "That explains the infomation I gained."
ORN: "define?"
ORN looks over at Fakir and Riia for addiction
Hector: "…whoa."
Pak: "…So they're fighting us because they're addicted to it? But they lose every time!"
Cassandra Lionheart: "ORN, think of it like medication…For us humans. Sometimes magic does not fight off some sicknesses."
Felicia: "A craving, a need to have something."
ORN: "these two definitions seeem excessively contradictory"
ORN stares at the two girls
Eric Lionheart: "This is what is driving them to do what they do."
Cassandra_Lionheart thinks "Makes sense a bit. But why involve the fate of the world?"
Fakir: "And Plu and Min do not reside on this world. Might they have invaded Grav's domain?"
ORN: "… so which is it? Are they driven due to a need to eliminate some form of illness, with severe beatings the only cure, or by a desire to obtain more?"
ORN: "Which of the two is addiction?"
ORN looks at Cassie
ORN: "IF the second, then it would only make sense that global cataclysms would cause untold amounts of sustenence"
Eric Lionheart: "They simply cannot help themselves. They MUST do it to satisify their addiction. Win or lose, it doesn't matter."
Cassandra Lionheart: "ORN is right."
ORN: "With the prodding of forces attempting to prevent or reduce it being equally effective for Plu"
Hector: "So…it's our job to break their addiction?"
Cassandra Lionheart: "The wars that would break out when the moon fell for food and such."
ORN: "Grav's primary desire, to obtain more mass, is more easily understood, but can easily feed Plu and Min's wishes, as you have observed"
Fakir: "No - if the moon fell, that would end all wars. No more heroism - no one left to BE heroes."
Fakir: "Or almost no one."
Cassandra Lionheart: "Right..Sorry.."
Eric Lionheart: "It would render them powerless."
ORN: "Then Plu and Min would likely have stalled the descent long enough to ensure others did rise up to bring solution to the problem."
Fakir: "Which sounds exactly like what has happened."
ORN: "They may also be quite blind to the possibility involved in a planetary impact, given their desire, and aided grav unaware that the elimination of life would eliminate most of their influence"
Fakir: "You were the ones who fired the Volcannon, correct?"
ORN: "Negative."
Riia signs: "Aerie"
Pak: "We helped, but."
Riia frowns.
ORN: "This Unit strongly recommended against. Other options were more likely to end things with less global damage at that range."
Hector: "We didn't press the fire button, if that's what you're asking."
Riia signs: "Aerie database…"
Fakir: "You were there. I doubt it would have fired without your aid."
ORN: "Aer "
ie", was keeping This Group busy at the time. Plu and Min were mentioned in a database and likely caused this."
Riia nods.
ORN: "Negative once more, Fakir. This Group was engaged entirely in combat at the time."
ORN: "This in an attempt to board the incoming Luna projectile for direct assault and elimination."
ORN: "Aer, providing cover for Plu and Min were the likely culprits."
Hector: "Probably whatever affinity Aerie had for us, that's part of what helped the firing. She was certainly nice and polite most of the time."
Fakir: "I saw what you did to Gaia. Had Gaia not been sealed, it could not have fired."
Fakir: "So in that respect, at least, you were essential - though I doubt the situation with Aer was as beyond your control as you say."
ORN: "Suspicions were already had, but This Group was simply following in your footsteps at the time, under your advising, in fact, as you recall."
ORN: "Spirits assaulting leave little room for alternative controls."
ORN: "Elimination of This Group through inaction would likely do little to change the results, save that This Group now has the potential ability to eliminate grav entirely."
Hector: "If yer tryin' to make us feel bad for this, it ain't gonna work. We gotta break this down to a goal and a means."
Fakir: "True, but I recall being frustrated in my attempts to assist. You handled it quite nicely."
Hector: "once those two points are clear, then we'll figure out the details."
ORN: "And none of these facts change a basic facet of Grav's existance: that its primary desire, the accumulation of mass far beyond what This Unit would ever care to perform, is cataclysmic in nature. In some ways this is worse than if it were but a simple influence"
Fakir waves a hand. "No, no, I do not blame you for what has happened. On the contrary, if you've gotten them addicted to you, you have already saved the world repeatedly. Now you just need to finish the job."
ORN: "You failed. It does not change your intentions."
ORN: "You simply failed where This Group succeeded. Had you succeeded, things would be no different."
ORN: "But you would likely have found yourself in less uncomfortable positions."
Fakir looks at ORN. "Yes. I have failed. Repeatedly. I tried to seal the spirits - and how many have I done? Zero. You, meanwhile, have sealed six."
ORN: "The Elimination of such a level of desire will require a more permanent solution than a regular, every day beating."
fakir sighs. "You're going to seal the rest. I shall do what I can to help, but."
ORN: "This does not change your intentions, nor can one ascertain with any direct certainty how much the distraction provided may have interfered with the spirits ability to combat This Group."
Eric Lionheart: "We are going to have to seal them at the same time, or we risk powering one or more up beyond our abilities to handle."
ORN: "Your failure is nothing more than that; a simple failed attempt."
Cassandra_Lionheart nods
ORN: "Two at most, Eric."
ORN: "Destablising Plu or Min will severely hamper the other's ability, as opposed to other spirits."
Fakir: "Speaking of. If you need a distraction to seal what's left of Chilla, I can provide that."
ORN: "Without a contrast, it is only a matter of time before the sustenence derived from one is rendered inert"
ORN shakes head
Cassandra Lionheart: "Oh yeah..Chilla."
ORN: "Not without planification and explanations to This Group first."
ORN points at Ahiru
Fakir: "I will require a night's rest first - and I see that you will as well."
Fakir: "But how does a volcano sound?"
ORN: "Simply running off is not as useful as a known and understood plan."
ORN stares
ORN stares some more
Eric Lionheart: "A volcano could cause considerible damage.
ORN gets up, walks over to Fakir, picks him up and hugs, sparkling brilliantly
Fakir: "GAH!"
ORN: "Finally one agrees!"
Eric Lionheart: "He's the only one."
ORN: "This Unit will do all it can to aid in its formation!"
Cassandra Lionheart: "ORN."
*sighs* "Will this work?"
Fakir: "A small one - just enough to disrupt the core. That will chase what Chilla is now up this way."
ORN: "This Unit can reinforce sections to ensure better chanelling as required"
Fakir: "We are in the exact center of the city. The spirit will come this way. You will need to be ready to intercept it - and defend this position from anyone who might try to interfere."
Cassandra_Lionheart nods "I'll put my all into it."
ORN: "The incoming mineral will cool off relatively quickly and can be put to rapid use"
Eric Lionheart: "Are you sure fighting here is wise? We don't know what happened to the trio other then 'possibly escaped'."
Fakir: "I said anyone. If they are still present, you will need to remove them before the spirit gets here."
Hector: "Y'know, we still have to wait for this thing to run out."
ORN sparkles more at the thought of what all that cooling magma is going to mean after what, a week in this stupid tasteless place?
Hector thumbs to the machine.
Eric Lionheart: "And if we defeat them, we risk powering Chilla up since the balance would be shifted further."
Hector: "Taking Sakha off of it or blowin' it up is the worst thing we can do at the moment."
Fakir: "If it will take the night - as I said, I need rest and you do too. We can accomplish both at the same time."
Hector: "Hm. You heard the man. Get some rest, everyone."
ORN nods
Cassandra_Lionheart nods and puts her sword away.
Fakir wriggles out of ORN's hug.
Pak is already snoozing near Sakha.
ORN: "… Depending on the rapidity of your core detonation, The surrounding area may become far more conducive to This Unit's performance than the current terrain, and equally detrimental to Chilla"
ORN puts him down
Fakir picks up Ahiru and sits in one corner of the room, petting the duck.
Eric_Lionheart hmms thoughtfully.
Eric_Lionheart wonders if he could Scan Fakir in secret, without informing anyone else of the attempt.
Eric sees an opportunity - Fakir is soon distracted with Ahiru.
ORN remains brilliant, half lost in consideration of all he can do once interfaced with the buffet from deep within the earth
Felicia takes a seat over near Sakha, laying with her sword. She'll probably drift off in awhile…
ORN realises he should've learned sculpting
Hector sits and leans against the bed, soon nodding completely off.
Eric_Lionheart does a quiet scan on Fakir, and makes sure not to display the infomation to others.
Cassandra_Lionheart drifts off to sleep. //
