Ramuh- “Again and again the lightning struck around the terrible old man, yet he did not blink or flinch. As he gazed on me with scrutinizing eyes, I knew then I had encountered one of the Ramuh. I found my voice, presented myself in a way I was told was respectful, and when no lightning struck me down, I spoke my request…”

Shiva-“I had never felt cold like this before, never even during the harshest winters, yet I knew I must push on if ever I was to get one of the Shiva to respect me, let alone trust me. It was when I thought for sure I would die here, in this frozen wasteland, that the icy storm subsided enough for me to make out a female Shiva- in her eyes was the look of one who was torn between annoyance and amusement, and so I knew my request had to be phrased with utmost care…”

Ifrit-“This was insanity- descending into a volcano. Could my guide have lied? For the Ifrit, a volcano did seem a sane habitat, but now, as the scorching heat from the magma boiling below nearly consumed me, I paused briefly to reconsider my plan. I used the power of Shiva to chill me, so that I would not cook to death- almost immediately, a large Ifrit was upon me, bellowing an accusation of my intent to intrude. I had succeeded in getting their attention- now came the tricky parts- assuring the guard I meant no harm, and then the request…”

Call: Infernal Blaze, CT 6, 21, 6xMag+2d10 Fire marm damage, GT

Remora-“No sooner than once I dropped in the offerings of seasoned meat into the river, the horde of Remora came, gnashing and biting, making short work of my peace offering. I knelt, out of reach, looking down into their home. When they finished, they turned to me, beady eyes full of a wisdom not seen in fish in my homeworld.”

Kirin-“As the older Kirin approached, I felt at ease, for once, in my time here. I knelt. I had done this before, out of fear, out of necessity, out of kindness. Now, standing before an avatar of restoration and healing, I did it out of genuine respect, request be damned.”

Mimicry “For five years now I have ‘done as the romans do’, mimicking the life of the inhabitants of this curious dimension. I have gained quite some skill in mimicking their actions… moreso than I originally desired. The magic of this place is changing me. I don’t want to lose my sense of self… but I seem to keep needing to adapt to this world. I need to find a way home.”

Mimic [Level 1]
Target: Varies Type: Varies
By observing a target in battle, the Mime can mimic its actions. When used, Mimic allows the Mime to replicate the last Action made – or Ability used – prior to his turn. The effects and target will be identical to the previous Action’s even if they were randomly determined, though all damage codes and CoS formulas use the Mime’s Attributes and Combat Statistics as their basis. Abilities which require the use of a certain Weapon have this requirement waived, using whatever Weapon the Mime currently has equipped instead. For Iaido and Soul Blade, resolve the effects as if the Mime was equipped with the Katana used in the last Action The only exception are Actions which consume an Item – the Mime must have the same Item in his Inventory in order to be able to Mimic the Action, consuming the Item in the process.
Actions with an MP cost require the Mimic to spend an equal amount of MP – if not enough MP is available, Mimic fails and the Action is wasted. Actions with a Charge Time cannot be Mimiced unless their effects were resolved directly before the Mime’s turn; if so, the Charge Time penalty carries over to Mimic.

Resonate: “What the hell is wrong with me?!”
Pay 25% of MaxHP. Mimic effects have greater effects.

Appearance:
Nathan’s hair is unnaturally grey for someone his young age- blame the shock and trauma of falling into the rift zone while on a camping/spirituality trip in his home world. He appears to be a healthy young adult, but there is something… wrong, about him. A feature of his face always seems to be familiar to someone. Maybe it’s a mannerism or a quirk he mimicked a little too well.

AGE: 19

Background:

Back in his homeworld, not unlike that of a typical Final Fantasy setting, Nathan, then eleven, was on a hiking trip for spiritualism purposes- a common activity among the youth who had expressed an interest in some form of magic or mysticism- intending wholly to spend the week meditating on the elements of the world, returning with the knowledge thereof to begin serious training in some branch of mysticism.

Such was not to be, however, as during an activity where they went off on separate hikes to do some exploring, Nathan was unlucky (or lucky, depending on a certain point of view) enough to fall through a tear in time and space into Etherside’s Rift Zone.

As one can imagine, Nathan did not immediately take this well, having an epic freak out that only subsided after several of the settlers slapped some sense into him about his immediate situation and his chances of survival in his current mental state. Unable to return home via the rift zone at the moment, Nathan waited for two long years, praying for some divine revelation or intervention. When no divine action occurred, Nathan began to get inquisitive of his surroundings. Learning that this was a place of magic- powerful magic- a thought pushed its way into Nathan’s head…

Could this all be part of the training?

It was an insane thought. It was irrational and unfounded. But it was comforting, and Nathan, with little else to comfort himself, clung to this belief. Over time, he began to learn to act like the natives, to the point where, on obtaining trust with the bizarre inhabitants, they were shocked to realize he was an offworlder. Alas, despite his contacts with humes and nonhumes, Nathan still could not find a way home…

But, as he started to observe the strange magical powers all about him, he realized that he would be a laughing stock if he found a way home, and had not taken the time to learn something from this situation…

Thus, Nathan packed up his belongings and began a sort of pilgrimage to the elders of the aeon races, hoping to learn from them some form of magic, as well as how he might find his way home again.

So far, he has been moderately successful in the first endeavor, learning bizarre, but effective powers from those he has had peaceful contact with… but the method of returning home continues to elude him, and as Nathan finds himself forgetting how to live in his home world and finding how to live in Etherside, he wonders if part of who he was is slipping away.
